Weeks 11 &12

Sorry I haven't written in a while. Time flies!

To be honest I can't really remember much from week 11. That is probably because week 12 was eventful.

Tuesday was very interesting. I had a little boy call a little girl the B-word in my class, which, completely threw me for a loop. Thank god I had a parent volunteer in my classroom because I marched him straight down to the assistant principals office along with giving him four days lunch detention. The assistant principal was surprised I had gone this far into the year without giving any referrals. I called his mom and while I was on the phone she asked him why he said that and he said because the little girl wouldn't stop talking so he called her the b-word.

I was out on Wednesday because I didn't feel well. I think it was more of a mental health day than anything. Thursday we went on a field trip to Mother Natures Farm in Gilbert. It was awesome. Kids were really good and they each got to bring home a pumpkin.

Friday we had a halloween party and it went off without a hitch. I had a few parents bring stuff in, as well as, help set up and clean up. I popped in a movie while they ate their pizza and we made pumpkin pins. I think the kids really enjoyed it.

Funny story: Tuesday we were reading when the assistant principal and school resource officer walked in. The officer had to ask me a question about soccer and then he mentioned to the student that it was red ribbon week. He asked if any of them knew what that was. They said no and he said it was drug awareness week. Of course all the kids start talking at once but I hear one student say "my parents say they are quitting drugs". I looked straight at my assistant principal and we both were laughing hysterically. KIDS SAY THE DARNDEST THINGS!

Anyway, until next time! Hope you find enlightenment by my students! They surely bring joy to my life!
